Heather was inspired to become an osteopath after experiencing the benefits of osteopathic treatment herself. An experienced registered nurse, massage therapist and yoga teacher it seemed like a natural progression for a health practitioner with a holistic view of health.
A graduate of the Unitec Master’s of Osteopathy degree, Heather uses a wide range of osteopathic techniques to relieve pain, discomfort and stiffness with the aim to optimise physical ability and well-being of the recipient.
Work/life balance is important for quality of life as well as physical health and Heather maintains a healthy lifestyle through regular gym work-outs, beach and bush walking as well as sharing time with friends and family.
Introducing Justin Dwen, an ACC registered acupuncturist. He is a member of the New Zealand Chinese Medicine Acupuncture Society . He holds the National Diploma of Acupuncture and a Diploma of Chinese Massage.
Justin is a keen outdoors man, a qualified snowboard instructor and surfer. He originally gained an interest in holistic health through witnessing his father recover from a terminal condition. As an acupuncturist he is working within the traditional Chinese medicine model and applies it to our modern lifestyle. This includes nutrition, emotions, lifestyle, musculoskeletal and viscera. Justin appreciates the Chinese health model’s consistency, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment principles that have been developed through thousands of years of observation. This structure and practice compliments his 21 years of martial arts experience.
Justin enjoys working with musculoskeletal and pain syndromes with success in treating ‘frozen shoulder’ and various chronic lumbar conditions. He is particularly interested in ‘pain’, fertility and pre and post natal care. He is passionate and sees true value in working alongside conventional medicine and treating the root cause of dis-ease. An average consultation and treatment takes one hour.
My name is Debbie Ross. I have been providing midwifery care in West Auckland since 2004. I Immigrated to New Zealand in September 1999 from South Africa where I trained and worked as a General Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse and Midwife since 1984.
I am wife to a very supportive husband, Craig, and mother to 2 wonderful boys, Matt 21 years & Chris 14 years, and not to forget a whole menagerie of animals. I am also a very keen gardener and free time will usually find me in my garden.
I have an absolute passion for midwifery and love having the opportunity to work in partnership with the women and their families helping them to make informed decisions in their pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal period, to achieve healthy outcomes, for both the Mum and baby. I am comfortable with all of women's preferences for birth; drug free or not, water births and home births. I am also happy to care for women with twin pregnancies as well as women who have had previous Caesarean sections (who request elective caesarean's or wish to have vaginal births).
Thank you for reading this and it would be a privilege to care for you and your baby.
I live in Kumeu and work with women and families living from North of Kaukapakapa down to and including all of West Auckland. I run an antenatal clinic on a Tuesday from Waitakere Osteopathic Clinic and a Wednesday from Helensville Birthing Centre.
I can be contacted on my home phone: 09 412-5944 or my mobile: 021-882-215.
I have been massaging for 9 years now. In 1999 I studied at WellPark College of Natural Therapies undertaking a Naturopathy Diploma. In my final year I really became more fascinated with how fast people felt the effects of manual work on the body and there began my journey to becoming a massage therapist.
I went on to study at the New Zealand College of Massage and completed A Diploma of Clinical Therapeutic Massage, specialising in Sports. While studying I worked with the Auckland Blues and the NZ Breakers. I also had the wonderful opportunity to join the massage crew for Team New Zealand, and learnt an enormous amount about the importance of self care and prevention, rather then cure.
Im very passionate about the effects of massage, and specifically the work that I do. My scope of practice includes soft tissue trauma, especially impact injuries, lumbar back compression and pain, postural support,RSI, mums to be, frozen shoulder and if your in training for any event then pre and post massage care is paramount to improving your performance and your recovery, so that you can train smarter and harder.
There are concessions cards with discounts and gift vouchers available and very affordable rates for a high quality product.
I would love to see you, please give me a call and we can chat about how to improve your body’s wellbeing, so you can get on with the things that really matter !
I have lived in West Auckland for many years but I am originally from Napier in the Hawkes Bay. I have worked as a receptionist since finishing secondary school. I started at Waitakere Osteopaths in 2004 with Wendy, and was lucky enough to have stayed on when John and Jo brought the business in 2009. I have travelled and worked in London, Australia, Belfast and Dublin and was lucky enough to travel to the States where I was offered a job for 3 years as a nanny looking after two children.
